So, I'm decorating for Christmas...

...and I realize that this time next year we will have 2 little rugrats "helping" us! :)  What an exciting thought!  I also realized that I need to stop buying holiday decorations, because:
1. I really do have enough stuff and
2. Where will I put even more stuff when baby boy and girl Even are here?!

Yes, I am done buying decorations (for now...) but that doesn't mean that I won't put what I already have to good use. ;)

And, today is the FSU/Gator game, so it would be silly of me not to say: GO NOLES!!! >>--->

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to show you all what we bought last night for the twins ... they are onesies from Swoozie's that we just couldn't pass up!  (They were a little pricey, but this was our "celebration purchase" ... and Chris quickly reminded me that it would be our only "celebration purchase" ...) :)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM THE 4 EVENS!!

Happy Thankgiving Eve!

Not too much to say today, except that we are still breathing :) and that we hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving day tomorrow.

Chris and I started talking about names last night ... this is going to take awhile to settle on 2 names, but at least we have started!  I am also scheming about nursery ideas, but I know that will also take awhile to formulate a perfect picture.  We will let you all know when we have more updates!

We can truly say we have A LOT to be thankful for this year! :)

Pinch me! Pinch us!

Good morning, everyone!  It's Tuesday, November 23rd.  I am typing this to remind myself that time has not stopped no matter how much I keep telling myself that it MUST have stopped.

24 hours ago, Chris and I were in the ultrasound room finding out that there were 2 BABIES inside of me!  Baby boy Even and baby girl Even.  I had a hard time falling asleep last night ...

"Will 2 cribs fit in the nursery?  How will we decorate for a boy and a girl?  2 car seats, 2 strollers, 2 BABIES."

I finally did fall asleep but then woke up bright and early this morning thinking:

"Did yesterday really happen?!  It couldn't be real.  I must have dreamt that.  PINCH ME!"

My reality check came in nice and strong when I went into our office (soon-to-be nursery for 2!) and picked up the ultrasound pictures to find that there were still 2 babies on the pictures.

"Ok, so it IS real.  Will 2 cribs fit in the nursery?  How will we decorate for a boy and a girl?  2 car seats, 2 strollers, 2 BABIES."

I cried again this morning, feeling scared, overwhelmed, and exhausted ... and then a sense of elation came over me.

"2 BABIES!  A little girl AND a little boy to love, care for, dress up, play with and raise with my wonderful husband.  2 babies!"

The more I processed this information, the more excited I became and the more calm I felt.

"We can do this - not without the extreme support of our families and friends and lots of prayers - but we can do this.  And we will!  And we will have the best time together! "

Some of you have asked how we were feeling this morning...I am having a hard time describing all of our emotions in one cohesive sentence, but this about sums it up: This is gonna be awesome! :)

SURPRISE!

Chris and I went to our 16-week appointment today and thought it would be an uneventful morning. HA!  We invite you to join us in our experience!  Here we go!

Blood pressure, weight, Doppler for heartbeat, etc…
Doctor: “When do we have your due date set for again?”
Me: “May 18th
Doc: “Ok. Well you are measuring a little bigger than that … like you are about 18 weeks.  I want to sneak you into ultrasound and see what date they can give us...you may even be able to find out what you are having if the baby cooperates!”
“Ok!!” we say in a naïve fashion, and off we go to ultrasound.

10 minutes later… (While I am feeling fat because she said I was “measuring big”)

US tech: “Ok, let’s get a good picture here for you guys and see how the baby is measuring
    - They both look great!  Oh, you know there are 2 babies here, right?”
Me: “Haha, that’s funny.”
Chris: “Hmm?”
US tech: “I’m not kidding.  You guys didn’t know?”
Me: “Again, that’s not really funny.”
US tech: “I am honestly not kidding.  Look, here is one baby, and here is the other one.  They should have caught this on the 8-week ultrasound.  You had one, right?"
Me: “yes...”
US tech: "at this practice?"
Me: "yes..."
US tech: "Well, who did it?!"
Me: "YOU!"
...silence for a moment...
US tech: “Oh. Well, I am really sorry I missed it.  One of the babies must have been hiding.”
{Internal monologue: “WHAT?! Two babies and one of them was hiding?  Is this a joke?
IS CHRIS STILL ALIVE?” And then I realized I was sobbing.}
Chris: “Honey, are you ok?” {Good, he IS alive…}
Me: “ARE YOU?!”
US tech: “I think she is just in shock.”  {YA THINK?}
The FRIENDS episode when Chandler and Monica find out they are adopting twins is replaying in my head…
Monica: “Chandler, you’re panicking!
Chandler: “JOIN ME, WONT YOU?!”
Me: “I’m fine.  Are you sure there isn’t another explanation?”
US tech: “No…you’re having twins.  Looks like this one is a girl … and … {come ON!} this one is a … boy!  Congratulations!”
Chris & Me: “…thanks…”

Yes, it’s true.  No, it’s not a joke.  Believe me, we made sure of it and we have cute little pictures of baby girl Even and baby boy Even to prove it.  TWINS.  {Another appropriate FRIENDS quote: “You can keep saying it, but it won’t stop being true.”}

Our Christmas wish list has to be overhauled, as well as our house, cars, and life in general.  But how awesome is this?  God gave us a boy AND a girl (and will hopefully bless us with some sanity along the way!)

With all that being said, the name of our blog has to change.  4 Evens = Even again!

3 Evens = Odd!

Hi!  We have started this blog to keep our friends and family up-to-date with the latest baby Even news.  Since we live in Atlanta, and a lot of our loved ones don't, we thought this would be a great way to share our news with everyone!

We have our 16 week appointment this coming Monday...and should have our 20 week appointment with our ultrasound scheduled the week of Christmas to find out if we are having a boy or a girl! (yes, we are finding out because both of us are a little too type-A not to know...).  We will keep you all posted with any news as soon as we get it!

Here we are (I am about 14.5 weeks in this picture) at Uncle Shuck's Corn Maze in Dawsonville, GA.  We went with our good friends, Shaun and Kristen Adams, and had a great time!
