T-1 day!

As I am lying in bed at the hospital, I am taking a quick minute to update everyone on this eventful week!

I went to my OB appointment on Tuesday morning this week, and after seeing that my BP was still elevated, I was still retaining fluid, and I was feeling light-headed and nauseated, my OB decided to admit me to the antepartum unit at the hospital.  We were told it may just be a few hours to monitor the babies and me, draw blood for labs, do an ultrasound, and then possibly go home if everything looks ok.  Well, after our ultrasound, the perinatalogist said, "You're not going home, and these babies will need to be delivered @ 37 weeks ..." which is this Friday!

I was initially disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to go home again before the babies are born, but my mom and Chris have been great about bringing stuff to me and keeping me company.  My mom has been sleeping in the oh-so-comfy cot that the hospital provides while Chris goes home every evening to sleep before a full day's work.  And the staff here at Piedmont Hospital have been so fabulous that I feel spoiled!

The plan is to have the babies on Friday ... as we are still unsure as to how they will make their arrival, we wait patiently to see what the doctor says tomorrow.  Either way. we will meet Parker and Reagan very soon!  The range of emotions surrounding this week have been overwhelming, and it all feels very surreal, but we are trying to stay calm and remember that God is in control!

We will be sure to keep you all posted when they arrive and we will, of course, share pictures as soon as possible! :)

Here's to the best Easter weekend of our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Updates from bed rest...

Yup, bed rest.  As of this past Friday, my doctor has told me to "stay horizontal" and the best place to do that is in bed, right? :)  No signs of labor yet, but my blood pressure has been elevated and I have been retaining fluids so my OB told me the best thing to do is to rest, rest, rest.  Chris took great care of me this weekend, but in order for both him and I to keep our sanity while he has to continue working, my mom came up on Sunday and is here for the long haul!  She has been wonderful, bringing me meals and things to keep me busy while in bed, and her company has been fun, of course!

We are now going to the doctor every 3-4 days, so our next appointment is this coming Friday.  At this point, we are hoping to keep my BP and swelling at a safe level, and if we can and the babies don't make an appearance beforehand, we have scheduled a C-section on April 29th.  C-section, you ask?  Well, yes ... our little son, Parker, has decided to be a little mischievous and is breech in my belly.  So, as long as he is still breech on April 29th, they will do a C-section as to not put any undue stress on him, his sister or me.  If he turns, well then, it's anybody's game! :)

I'm not going to lie, bed rest is harder than it sounds.  Since I have been uncomfortable, sore, and tired, laying in bed is definitely what I need to be doing ... but I am feeling a little unproductive and worthless! My mom and Chris have to remind me several times a day to ask for help and stop doing things that I shouldn't be attempting.  It is hard to be a patient!  At least I know this will end in 2 weeks at the most, and as long as I am keeping these little piggies in my belly healthy, I can do anything for 2 weeks!

Our next appointment is Friday, so if we have any updates we will keep you all posted!

Week 33 & 34 - They're a-coming soon!

Some pictures from the last 2 weeks, and I have to make this a quick post because I can no longer sit comfortably at the computer desk!

Week 33

Week 34

As of today's ultrasound, Parker is 5 lbs, 2 oz and Reagan is 5 lbs, 6 oz...no wonder I feel like I am carrying an anvil around with me! :)  They are both still doing well.  The perinatalogist recommended that I not go past 38 weeks, so we should have these bundles of joy here before April 28th! (that's soon!!)  I have been pretty uncomfortable in most positions and have been mostly laying in bed or on the couch (except for the trips to the doctor's offices) to relieve the swelling and overall uncomfortable-ness that my belly is creating on the rest of my body. :)

Chris and I are thrilled to know there is an end date in sight - now we just need to get through the next 3 weeks with as much grace and patience as possible...prayers for comfort and patience are always something we could use from our friends and family!
