Happy Valentine's Day!

How we decorate:

Chunky paper straws: Target Valentine's Day section for $3!

(P & R helped make this picture - I wrote the words and they did the stickers, and then we framed it!)

Ribbon wreath!

(I make and sell these in my mom's shop: www.tweetbythesea.com)

How we celebrate:

Making cookie bars!
Reagan telling me to check the cookies.

Parker really enjoyed turning the oven light on and off.
(side note: yes, he is wearing Christmas jammies ... they still fit and they are warm - don't judge!)

Are they done yet?

Their first ever lollipops!  Heart-shaped, no less!

Yum! They call them "pops!"

Red Velvet Puppy Chow
(my adapted recipe is below)

SO, so, so, so, yummy and easy!
And the kids helped!

Ingredients:
5 Cups Rice Chex cereal
5oz (5 individually wrapped cubes) Baker's White Chocolate
5oz Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate
1/2 bag Valentine's M&M's
1 cup white cake mix
1/2 cup powdered sugar
optional: Valentine's Sprinkles
optional: red food coloring for the white chocolate (I didn't do this)
Directions:
1. Start by dividing the chex mix into two large bowls. (2 1/2 cups in each)
2. Take 2, 1-gallon ziploc bags and place 1/2 cup of cake mix and 1/4 cup powdered sugar in each bag so that ingredients are split evenly (I then added the sprinkles to these bags for some color)
3. Microwave the 5oz white chocolate until melted (careful not to burn - add red food coloring if you want to now) and then pour over one bowl of chex mix. Stir until all chex mix is coated
4. Pour the white chocolate-covered chex into one of the gallon bags, zip it, and then shake until all chex is coated with the powder.
5. Do steps 3 & 4 with the semi-sweet chocolate and the remaining chex mix and bag of powder.
6. Once all chex is coated, I poured it all into a colander to get the extra powder/cake mix out.
7. Pour the chex into a bowl or container and mix in the M&M's
8. Eat and ENJOY! :)

(side note: the heart-shaped measuring cups came from the Target dollar section - $3 for a set of 8!)

Happy Valentine's Day from the Evens!
